You already know that you can use your smartphone to download and install a ton of helpful, productivity-boosting apps—sometimes for a small cost but often for free.
Did you know that your Xerox printer can do the same thing?
Thanks to the Xerox App Gallery, at your fingertips are a wide array of apps to extend the functionality of your Xerox printer. Apps exist to enhance productivity, make your workflows easier and more efficient, and to improve overall user experience. Like the app store on your phone, some Xerox apps are paid and others are free.
The Xerox App Gallery has apps to improve printing, scanning, and faxing. There are also apps with cloud functionality, device management, and a whole slew of excellent third-party Xerox partner apps. If there’s something you’ve been trying to accomplish with your Xerox printer but haven’t found a way to do yet, odds are there’s an app that can help you accomplish your goals.
In this post, we’ll examine how to access the Xerox App Gallery, what kind of printer or MFP you need to have to download apps, and a few general tips to help you get it all sorted out. Trust us, it’s completely worth it.
How Do I Access the Xerox App Gallery?
If you’d like to browse the Xerox App Gallery on your computer, smartphone, or other internet-enabled device, you can do so quickly and easily on the official Xerox App Gallery website.
But what if you want to browse the App Gallery on your printer itself?
That’s easy too. If you have an i-series Xerox MFP from 2016 or later, you already have access baked-in. If you have a different model, you can probably still access the Xerox App Gallery (as long as it’s not significantly outdated). Take a look at the following section for more detailed installation instructions for these scenarios.
What Kind of Xerox Printer Do I Need for the App Gallery?
For a complete list of compatible Xerox MFPs and printers, please see this page from the Xerox website.
As mentioned above, if your Xerox printer is an i-series from 2016 or later with ConnectKey enabled, you’ll have the Xerox App Gallery already installed. If you don’t have a Xerox MFP from that series or era, don’t worry, it’s likely you can still access the App Gallery, it just requires a bit more elbow grease.
If you need to manually install the Xerox App Gallery, make sure that your MFP has internet access and has been loaded with ConnectKey (PDF link). You will also need the Xerox Extensible Interface Platform installed at version 3.5 or higher. This isn’t as terribly complicated as it may sound—these components can be installed like any other software, and the provided links will help you along the way. After that point, you can install the Xerox App Gallery as normal.
