One of the topics that we cover often here on the Smart Document Solutions blog is the many ways in which a Xerox ConnectKey-enabled device, typically a multifunction printer (MFP) can be extended to better match your already-existing systems and workflows.

Put just a touch more succinctly, we mean that your Xerox printer is more than likely compatible with other software or platforms you already use.

Called integrations, which typically work by means of an app, these functionality-extenders make it so that your MFP can communicate with things like Google Drive, Office 365, Salesforce, and others.

Educators will be delighted to know that one of the apps available is a full-featured Moodle integration.

Moodle is a learning platform, one of several such systems that has risen to popularity in recent years—particularly lately as a result of increased need for remote-learning—which aim to make educator’s jobs easier, more efficient, and better organized.

Moodle in particular has become quite popular on a global scale, thanks in large part to its price: free. Moodle is open source software licensed under the GNU General Public License, which empowers users to use and adapt the software for commercial and non-commercial projects. There are no licensing fees, making this an attractive option for many educational organizations.

The learning platform is also multilingual, scalable, and can be self-hosted. That latter bit means that you can run the Moodle software on servers you control—no third parties necessary. In some cases, this can be seen as a security benefit (assuming whoever sets up your servers knows what they’re doing!).

Moodle is, of course, compatible with your Xerox MFP. Let’s learn more about that:

How to Set Up Moodle Integration On Your ConnectKey-Enabled Xerox Device

You may recall that we mentioned Moodle in our post Tools for Teachers: Putting Your Xerox MFP to Work in (and out!) of the Classroom. Since we published that post, Moodle and similar learning platforms have become more and more popular, particularly recently with the increased need for remote learning capabilities.

To connect your Moodle account with your Xerox printer, it’s as simple as installing the Xerox Connect App for Moodle.

Once you have the app installed, you’ll enter your Moodle account information and that’s it—you can use the display panel on your MFP to browse to a Moodle folder and start scanning in things like coursework, assignments, notes, or whatever you need to input. You may also select files to be printed, all directly from the ConnectKey-enabled device.

What Other Learning Platforms Can Be Integrated With a Modern Xerox Multifunction Printer?

Xerox supports most popular learning platforms, including Blackboard Learn, which is a popular learning platform for higher educational facilities, like colleges and universities.

For Blackboard, you’ll want to get the Xerox Connect for Blackboard app, which features similar functionality to the Moodle integration app: scanning and printing to and from the platform directly at the ConnectKey-enabled device’s panel.
