For many offices, it would be impractical to have more than one printer. Sometimes this is simply due to a lack of floor space or budgetary constraints, but the good news is that sometimes an additional printer isn’t just impractical—it’s actually unnecessary.
You may find it surprising to hear us say this, given that we’re in the business of selling printers. While we love to help organizations that genuinely need them set up a fleet of printers, the fact of the matter is this: many small businesses can do so much with a single modern Xerox device that we’ve actually been able to help some of our clients “declutter” their offices by going from a small fleet of 2–3 printers down to a single Xerox machine. In addition to reduced energy costs, they now enjoy additional space in their workplace, less expense overall, and higher efficiency.

Printer Bottlenecks Slowing You Down? Try the Xerox Print Around Feature
The Xerox Print Around feature is a great way to prevent printer bottlenecks in a busy office. It allows the printer to continue processing tasks, even if one of the tasks needs to stop due to an unfulfilled requirement.
Here’s an example of how that may play out in real life: say that three people are currently using the printer. Each person has queued up a task, and the printer is merrily humming away, outputting their documents. Except—oops—the second person accidentally assigned a task to the printer which required a different type of paper which isn’t available in the tray. Normally, the printer would stop and require manual intervention to finish that task before moving on to the others.
With the print around feature, the device will simply hold that job and continue on to the next—meaning that the first and third persons won’t have to wait to get their tasks done, and the second person can come in and resolve the issue when they get a chance.

Need a document printed and need it now?
As long as the other people using the printer don’t mind too much, you can tell your Xerox multifunction printer to interrupt the current task, print out yours, and then continue on the preceding tasks.
